Medium: Oil on linen

Description:  Traditional oil painting in the style of Olde Lyme artists

ALLEN FRESHLER A PRIZE WINNING LISTED REGIONAL ARTIST I was born in the scenic Berkshires of Massachusetts. I started painting seriously after retiring from a corporate position in Hartford, CT. As a teenager I did paint cartoons in Hinsdale, on a RR underpass that became very popular among children who insisted that the parents take them to see the cartoons. For a number of years more characters were added. The present count is about fifteen. A cartoon raising restoration was held in July of 2015 with over 20 eager helpers to restore and add Minions, Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. Newspapers, Facebook and TV in several markets picked up this story. See more, Google: Cartoon Bridge, Hinsdale, MA and Allen Freshler Influences among artists include Manet for his directness, Degas for his compositions and Homer for the bold but endearing images of people versus nature. I enjoy painting winter scenes and remember well the storms in the Berkshires. My love of nature, weather, clouds and water reflections are major themes. I must paint beautiful scenes. Painting is a wonderful way to express yourself and leave a footprint for generations. I feel a strong kinship with the 19th and mid 20th Century Rockport artists. I’m a member of several art groups including the West Hartford League, Arts United of Ft Laud and am Bonnet House (historic property) resident artist in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I'm also a listed artist in ASKART. I’ve studied under Paul Zimmerman, NA, California artist John Budicin, NA, David Lussier, Caleb Stone and Sergio Ruffo of the Copley Society, Boston. My work has been featured on public TV. I’ve been a juried selected artist numerous times and have won awards. I recently was a part of a group museum show in Delray Beach, Florida and painted live over two days at the Clark Museum in Williamstown, MA. I've had several one man shows in CT, FL and MA. I have competed a series of bicentennial paintings for the Town of Hinsdale, MA which hang in their new town hall. Currently representation is with the Webber Gallery, Lake Worth, FL, Hartford Design Center and LCR, Avon, CT seasonally.
