Artist Profile

Art of Tao LaBossiere

Medium: Mixed media, rusty metal, and reclaimed wood

Description:  Multidisciplinary muralist also working in metal, wood, paint, pen and ink

I consider myself fortunate to know that my ability to be self-expressive through creativity is part of my gift of life. I believe we all possess individual creative abilities of one form or another, after all we are each unique, but not all of us feel empowered to be self-expressive. We owe it to ourselves, and to the life that we have been given, to contribute to the world with the intention of making it a better place for our having been in it. In support of that life philosophy, I create art for a living, as a creative services provider for clients; an employer of other artists by creating assistant jobs for them; and through public art and spaces at my retreat center that I hope inspire others to be creative. I believe that it is my duty to create art, and I must create art for others as a way to inspire their creative self-expression. I am grateful that I get to choose a life as a working mural artist and sculptor who is becoming more successful with each opportunity. I feel blessed and find myself compelled to be of service to the community by volunteering to manage the Hartford ArtSpace Gallery. I am able to give encouragement and support to artists who might otherwise feel the "Art World" and "Gallery Scene" is too exclusive and inaccessible. I am honored to make the gallery available to amazing community builders. Inspired by another artist friend, my three muses are Artists, Community and Charity. I am honored to be able to enjoy all three and work with my partner and wife Amy LaBossiere on these endeavors.
