Elaine Lyman Fine Art
Medium: Original Oil Paintings
Description: Paintings with fresh perspective that reframe everyday beauty into pieces of art
Elaine Lyman (Middlefield CT) creates oil paintings with fresh perspective, finding inspiration from everyday life and reforming it into bold pieces of art. Working in rich color palates and large scale for impact, her work explores many styles, from realism to abstract. Be it the beauty of antique automobiles, the rolling vistas of the Lyman Farm, or the exploration of non-traditional still life, Lyman reforms daily, recognizable elements which play on the viewer's perspective while emphasizing the importance in the subject's history. In abstract, Lyman has drawn from the beauty of pattern and design, as well as the raw emotion from serious subject matter such as the Underground Railroad. Her paintings are notable for their attention to detail and craftsmanship. Exploration of technique and subject matter is evident in the many styles, textures and palates that make up her body of work. Elaine is a native of Connecticut and has studied intensively with artist and mentor, Richard Harden with a focus on oil painting. She has multiple identities as wife, mom, figure skating coach and artist. Lyman earned the 2015 Hans Weiss Award recognizing outstanding achievement in the fine arts and the 2016 Jerry's Artarama of CT Award exemplifying outstanding artistic merit and potential for future artistic pursuits.
