Artist Profile

Steve Hunter

Medium: Acrylic

Description:  Contemporary realism focusing on shape, color & feelings as the spirit moves me!

I am a graduate of the Art Institute of Boston where I received formal training in Fine Art. It is now the Lesley University College of Art and Design. I soaked up the experience of being in Boston, commuting daily from my hometown of Newton. I spent a year living and painting in Port Clyde, Maine after school. My favorite painters include Edward Hopper, Fairfield Porter, Winslow Homer, Marsden Hartley, Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Cezanne, James McNeil Whistler and many more. I continued to paint, albeit occasionally, through many years as I worked in the Graphics/Print industry. Recently, I have been able to spend more time painting. I am currently painting in Acrylics. I call my style of painting Contemporary Realism. My subjects tend to be anything that catches my eye and provokes my thoughts from the real world and beyond. I am particularly drawn to landscapes, seascapes and architectural scenes.
