Artist Profile

Sandy Fromson

Medium: Felting and jewelry

Description:  Dyed silk and sari adorn my hats. Druzies and geodes guide by jewelry designs.

The inspiration for my art comes from the nature and the world around me. It reflects elements of the earth, water, or sky and is shaped by my choice of materials, colors, and textures. There is alchemy in the weaving and felting processes that fascinates me. In weaving the choice of weft and warp unite into a unique creation, in felting, the hand dyes silk, antique saris, and bamboo, silk and wool fibers meld to create a thing of wonder without stitches. My jewelry begins with the selection of a stone which in turn inspires my design.
