Charles Fort is the author of six books of poetry including: We Did Not Fear the Father (Red Hen Press) and Mrs. Belladonna’s Supper Club Waltz (Backwaters Press), 10 Chapbooks, and his poems appear in 32 anthologies. Fort has poems in The Best American Poetry, 2000, 2003, and 2017. He is Distinguished Emeritus Professor at the University of Nebraska at Kearney and Founder of the Wendy Fort Foundation and Theater of Fine Arts. In 2017, Fort completed Sorrow Road, 220 Villanelles with sequences on Bergman films and Dante's Inferno. His first novel is The Last Black Hippie in Connecticut. I was one of two featured readers at the annual Wallace Stevens Poetry Readings at Elizabeth Park in Hartford on June 17, 2017, sponsored by the Friends and Enemies of Wallace Stevens Society. I am the featured reader at the Poetry Institute in New Haven on August 24, 2017. I collaborate my poetry readings with artists (Afro Psalms), dancers, and musicians: double bass, violin, kalimba, piano, saxophone, etc. I wrote one poem for saxophone using my imagery as musical notes. When I do not have saxophonist to accompany me, I become the saxophone.
