Wabi Sabi Ya

Medium: Washi paper craft boxes, shibori fabric bags

Description:  Decorative boxes with Japanese designs & upcycled denim bags with shibori fabric

Designing crafts reflecting my Japanese heritage has been a fulfilling adventure apart from my "regular" job as an elementary teacher. My Bauble Boxes are covered with washi paper and decorated with various bead, coin and origami baubles. The shibori fabric bags are my newest projects using upcycled denim and repurposed Japanese yukata/kimono (& other Asian inspired) material for the lining. Pockets from jeans and vintage buttons are also incorporated into many of the bag designs. Over the past 10 years, I've participated in several craft shows in CT - Brookfield Arts Center (2 years), Guilford Artistry Holiday Show (7 years), Manchester Merry Mix Up (2 years), New Haven Creative Arts Center Winter Exhibit (4 years), and Wesleyan Potters Annual Exhibit and Show (9 years). I have also sold my crafts online as a past member of Wholesale Crafts, and in retail stores in Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Connecticut.
