Description:  Conveying a sense of musical sound by overlapping shapes, color, line and movement

Music is at the core of my art work. I believe that every color has its own sound. In addition, musical sounds have their own textures, linear movements, shapes, and rhythms. I create visual imagery based on these elements to convey the emotional impact of music. Composers suggest various aspect of humanity though their use of symbols to suggest abstract sound. these are the points of departure for my work. my works are never literal translations of music, but communicate my responses to the viewer. I encourage the viewer to respond to my imagery based on the personalized feelings they experience when viewing my art works. ESTELLE LASCHEVER has studied at the Art students League in New York with Will Barnett and Yasuo Kuniyoshi. She has a BFA Degree from Cornell University and a Masters of Art Education from University of Hartford. Her work has been shown widely and she has been the subject of twenty three one woman shows. She has won more than thirty awards and has work represented in many public and private collections, including the New Britain Museum of American Art, the Johnson Museum of Art, Ithaca, New York, and the Gerber Scientific Corporation, CT.
