Description:  Watercolors of anything Nature related, Charcoal portraits and Ink drawings

Art has always been part of my life, whether actually creating something or just seeing the world in terms of how to capture it in art. Only recently have I decided to share my artwork with others outside of family and friends. It's a wonderful feeling when someone looks to my art to bring something special into their home. Every artist has his or her own reason for creating art. The result is often something unexpected. Art is a truly vulnerable revelation of oneself. My inspiration comes from Nature. Most of my works are about things that have a comforting component, simple beauty. I wish to capture more feeling than image, working in charcoal to catch the simplicity and the movement of a subject rather than color. Bending tulips in charcoal, is one example. ...and there is a little sketch pad that goes everywhere with me. Portraits are something I especially enjoy. My choice of subject is often based on something intangible that I feel about the person; perhaps their soulfulness, quiet demeanor or the flicker of mischief in their facial expression. I do much of my artwork at night. There's something about the quiet that allows me to free my mind. There's always something I learn when I pick up a paintbrush or a pencil, something I haven't noticed before, some small detail. Currently I am working on taking things from nature and turning them into art. There is so much in our daily lives that inspires art!
