Description: Abstract, collage and mixed media art pieces created and designed with cut or torn painted paper
Sandra Dee Baker is a self-taught emerging artist who discovered her interest for abstract artistic expression in art therapy venues over 3 years ago. Most of her paintings are created and designed with cut or torn painted paper. She works in an organic manner allowing the work to evolve as she puts pieces on the paper. There is movement in all her work. She loves working with bold and vibrant colors and mainly works in watercolor, acrylic, and ink. She completed her first collage piece The Maze in January 2014. The Maze is an attempt to explore her painful journey of growing up without a compass and her search for a way out. It captures her despair and her pursuit for healing, truth, life. Sandra continues to explore these various themes in all of her work and is looking forward to seeing what will emerge next. Over the past 2 years, Sandra has felt blessed to be embraced by members of the art community and has been selected to participate in juried shows, art fairs and has won some awards. Her work was has selected and been featured at The New Britain Museum of Art, Slater Memorial Museum, Art Center East, The Women’s Art League of New Britain, Spectrum Gallery, Loft Artists Association and the Community Renewal Team National Arts Foundation. Lastyly, her work was selected to participate in the Bruce Museum’s Fine Art.
