Description: Fine art pieces using both film, digital and instant photography
I was born into a family of artists. Some of the earliest memories from my childhood are of sitting in the red light of the darkroom while my grandfather developed film. I can still remember the smell of his oil paints and the feel of the clay he used to throw pots on the wheel. I would curl up next to my mother while she stitched quilts and tied knots to make macramé wall hangings. And I always knew in my heart that I was an artist too. At sleep away summer camp, when I was ten, we made pin hole cameras out of shoe boxes. Watching my images come to life in the chemical bath in the camp's darkroom made me fall in love with photography. I still have those two precious images in a scrap book in my home. My love for photography just grew and grew from that moment on. My first subjects were my friends and my animals, both real and stuffed, whom I photographed in the 'studio' that I set up at home! I learned the art of photography when film was all that there was to work with, and I still love to work with film. I graduated from The Massachusetts College of Art with a degree in photography and a serious love of film and darkroom time. I regularly use my grandfather’s cameras. The weight and the feel of his Nikon F2 is one of my true loves, the sound of the shutter is music to my ears. I also love the immediacy of digital photography, and am a hybrid shooter, regularly using both film and digital in my work. My greatest loves are nature, art, and love. I love love and I love to capture your love! Your love for yourself, your newborn, your children, your partner, your family, your love of the mud and the water and the flowers and the animals that make up the earth! I love to play out in fields and the waterfalls, let’s get barefoot and fancy free and make some magic! Let’s work together to capture your special bonds, this moment in time is fleeting, lets capture it together!
