Gerald Ward Glass Art
Medium: Flameworked glass
Description: Flameworked glass roses, stained glass objects, stained glass/metal pieces
I started working with glass in 2010 beginning with stained glass and then incorporating metal into my stained glass pieces. Then I discovered flameworking. At first self-taught, I met and became a student of paperweight glass artist, Paul Stankard. and began an affiliation with the International Flameworking Conference. Under Mr. Stankard's mentorship, I concentrated on creating glass flowers and specializing in glass roses. I discovered a method for crafting the petals which produce a realistic representation of a rose. From my home studio in Windsor, CT, my focus is on perfecting the creation of flameworked glass roses and new ways of presenting them.
