Description: Mixed media collages, portraiture, illustration style art
Natasha Sazonova is an artist, graphic designer and illustrator. Originally from Kyiv, Ukraine, Natasha began painting as a toddler. At the age of four, she became one of the youngest students ever to attend the Fine Arts Prep Studio at the University of Engineering and Architecture in Kyiv. Ms. Sazonova started exhibiting her book illustrations alongside adult artists at an early age, and was planning on becoming an artist for as long as she can remember. After immigrating to the United States at the age of sixteen, Natasha set off on a path to making her dream a reality. She graduated as an honor student from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Fine Arts. Soon thereafter Natasha started exhibiting her work professionally. Ms. Sazonova’s paintings have been exhibited in galleries throughout the United States, including the Museum of Art and Design (NY City), Aldrich Museum (Ridgefield, CT), Harbor Gallery at the University of Massachusetts (Boston, MA), and Capitol Arts Network Gallery (Bethesda, MD). Throughout her art career Natasha has also painted illustrations for various publications, and created artwork (mainly individual, couple, and family portraits) on commission. Ms. Sazonova doesn’t believe in limiting her creativity by concentrating on one subject or painting in one style. Her art could be seen anywhere from a cover of a popular science book in South Korea to a mixed media couple portrait in a private collection of a Hollywood producer. As an artist, Natasha works in a variety of styles ranging from collages to highly-detailed watercolors, such as custom family tree paintings she creates for clients from all over the world. At this time she’s had customers from 6 out of 7 continents, and is waiting patiently for some penguins to order a family tree from her to complete the list. Over the years, Ms. Sazonova has also participated in numerous public art events, with several world-famous CowParades among them. As an amateur fashion historian and a keen observer of human behavior, she enjoys painting whimsical illustrations depicting people from different time periods throughout history. Natasha’s favorite subjects to paint are women’s portraits and genre scenes from the Roaring Twenties.
