Pieces of Our World: Art Made With Love Wanda Brown Claitty’s eclectic personality is a vibrant channel of energy in her artwork. She is a multimedia artist whose artwork is influenced by her life experiences, family environments, world travels and love of cultural art and nature. She adorns herself, home and garden with works of art by family, friends, other artists and with eclectic collections from her travels. Wanda’s art gift is clearly evidenced by her unique ability to incorporate love of indigenous cultures and the beauty of nature in a way that draws art admirers. Wanda’s artwork features vibrant colors, shapes, fabric, shells, jewels and other mediums. Her art ruminates happiness, joy, innovation and love. She loves creating works of art on wood, wearable art and canvas. Wanda has several collections that showcase her love of color, shapes and nature. Wanda’s primary focus is on women of color as she believes that their strength, charisma, physical attributes and beauty deserve continually sharing. Her Royalty collection highlights the beauty and uniqueness of women and men as Royalty, especially those not often viewed this way! She inspires herself with the Bold and Beautiful collection which features women as confident and glorious creators. As a gardener, Wanda has chosen to share her Nature Love collection. She incorporates windchimes on wooden pallets, adorns canvas aprons and purses with flowers, birds and butterflies. Prior to becoming a full-time artist, Wanda was a Fortune 500 and non-profit executive, and entrepreneur for nearly 50 years. Wanda’s former employers and clients have recognized her outstanding leadership, creativity and collaboration skill sets. Wanda’s eclectic work history ranges from a Director of Medicaid Managed Care, Execitive Director/Regional Director of federally qualified health centers, psychiatric clinics and founding director of an alternative high school. After Wanda’s final retirement, her spirit became restless. Wanda listened to her inner voice, and God’s voice about the gifts he bestowed. As a result, Wanda’s creativity, love of art and open expression emerged in a vengeance. Wanda’s artwork has been purchased by and commissioned by master artists and an increasing and diverse group of art patrons. She has sponsored and been invited to participate in a number of pop up art shows. Wanda’s art has been exhibited at the Bloomfield Town Hall in 2018 and 2019 and at the West Hartford Center, Artist for Peace exhibition. Both of these are honors for a new artist. Wanda is a member of the Bloomfield Senior Center Multimedia Art class, under the instruction of master artist Dolores Howard, and the Windsor Art Center. Wanda is preparing a one woman show of her work to be exhibited in early 2020. She has been supported and encouraged to show her work by several master artists such as Stanwyck Cromwell, Andre Rochester and Ed Johnetta Miller.
