Artist Profile

Kimberley Scoble

Medium: Oil

Description:  Waterscapes and landscapes, still life paintings and portraits in oil

For me, painting is the best way I know to express myself and comes most easily. My subject matter may vary, but I'm constantly striving to make the ordinary more intriguing. Capturing light is a priority since it influences shapes, color, and textures. I want you to feel the spray of the ocean, or peer into the depth of a pond and see what's on the bottom. I've continued concentrating on water scenes, and the reflective qualities of water has been a fascinating study and continues to challenge me. I have also recently done a series of pet portraits which are just so much fun to do, and are a departure from my larger water paintings. My paintings are representational, although I don't feel they are photo-realistic. I paint in layers which slows the process but helps to create depth and complexity of color even while working with a limited palette. My work is done in my studio either from life or from my own photo references.
