Harriett Tugman 2x3 feet Acrylic on canvas $5555 |
The artist shares pieces in oil paint and in acrylic paint. Thought-provoking art from James Black. Each piece is rife with strong emotions inspired by varied spiritual experiences, observation of thoughts as the artist meditated, and an attempt at objectively relating to experiences on would construe as trying. The artist's aim is to observe thought without craving or aversion: to see things as they are.
"I am still on the quest of figuring out who I truly am. I was taught to write a great bio so that the reader would be impressed. I am not in the business of fleecing people with words to create an impression of who I am truly not. At 33 I thought it would all be simple and easy to have figured out. Who am I? I do things that I would never do, knowing full well the potential consequence. I enjoy watching the growth of others. I like children and old people because they are generally true. I think I know it all, knowing it all means nothing. What am I? I was taught to fear a man because of the color of his skin. I have seen dead bodies strewn across the street. Where am I? I have seen the absent looks on faces after debaucherous acts. I have seen bodies dangling from ropes. I have seen a baby's first smile. I have tended gardens from seed to the table. I have been homeless and begged for food. What were the choices? I have lived in a mansion and played the fool. I still dream of world peace. Should I be averse to craving or do the balancing act? I no longer know what to say as all is in a flux. So present is where I stay! I am."
