MelRose Denim specializes in repurposed, reworked, reclaimed jackets and vests as well as handmade leather and denim accessories. MelRose Denim (MRD) has been sprouting since 2017 and continuing to grow. My name is Melanie Rivera and I loved having my own store front that I was able to call mine, however I closed my space right before the pandemic and transitioned to a private studio location.

I am interested in self care, community care and earth care and believe sustainability only exists at the intersection of them all. After countless hours at the bins seeing the abundance of discarded clothing/textiles and hard goods. I decided to look for pieces that aren’t super desirable on their own and try to bring them back to life instead of buying new every time I needed clothing. I started making things for myself and it became something I loved doing for others. This has become a form of art therapy for me in a time of overwhelming commercialism. I like to believe my small contributing of clothes making will become the new normal for others and grow into an earth changing way of life.
