Description: Paintings & photography with a focus on form & figures
I am an artist who primarily works with oil paints, but I also incorporate acrylic, printmaking, and photography into my work. As a child, I became interested in creating art as a way to express the characters and worlds I imagined in my head. Today, my art is inspired by the female form, landscapes, and abstract representations of form and figures. The abstract expressionists, particularly Willem De Kooning, have had a significant influence on my style. While I start with a general idea or plan for a piece, I allow room for spontaneity in my creative process - the process itself often dictates the direction I choose to go in. Using many thin layers of paint and medium to create depth and texture, I often mix colors directly onto the canvas rather than on a palette. Through my paintings, I seek to represent beauty in its many forms. My work has evolved over time from realistic landscapes and figures to a more abstract representation of form, and it is constantly continuing to evolve.
