Artist Profile

In 1987 Cara opened her first factory, Cara Stimmel Ltd., to produce large quantities of her jewelry. She sold her line to department and specialty stores world wide, producing it all in house. After decade of adhering to dictated trends and the hectic schedule of Fashion Weeks, Cara decided to take a fresh approach to her jewelry. She began to produce more organic, free-form collections, created by hand, with intricate vintage parts collaged together in what she refers to as "assemblage". Repurposing and recycling come naturally to her, so utilizes found objects, highlighting them as jewels in her creations.
