Description: Capturing the beauty of places I discover in my travels with watercolor
I have experienced the power of art to bring back emotions linked to childhood memories, life events, and experiences with nature. Art can spark in us a sense of wonder, gratitude, and inspiration to contribute to a better future. My artwork strives to capture all of these feelings while celebrating the cultural richness of our world communities and the serenity of nature.

Painting seascapes, mountains and culturally rich sites where I have lived or traveled to becomes a ritual that allows me to slow down and appreciate the beauty in the details of my surroundings. It reminds me that joy and beauty don’t come from achieving perfection, but from immersing ourselves in the present moment as a path to authenticity.

Working with watercolors, I find the organic fluidity of the water in combination with the color pigments bring a sense of calm and playfulness bridging what is in us with what is around us. The liquid, luminous and transparent nature of watercolor encourages peace, creativity and deeper observation and appreciation of what I am aiming to portray. I often work in layers to build texture, depth and transparencies that filter a play of lights. I also experiment with wet-on-wet and alla prima techniques when using acrylic paint for a fresh and spontaneous approach.

My aim is to reflect through my art the emotional connection to those culturally rich places in the world that I have explored. At the same time, my art celebrates the importance of our natural environments for our wellbeing and ultimately our survival. As an artist and educator certified to teach art and also trained in art therapy, my intention is to help others reconnect with their inner world through their art practice. I strive to help them achieve creative discovery by slowing down and taking a deeper look at their inner emotions and their dreams. By expressing these feelings through their art, they can free themselves and let go. We can realize that beauty is in this exploration more than in the finished piece. The creative process is healing as it inspires us to travel deeper into ourselves with the aim of accepting and appreciating what is in us. At the same time, the value of imperfection in our work is an authentic manifestation of what it is to be human and is a part of our growth process. This practice of developing concentration, self-exploration and observation by perception and contemplation of our surroundings prepares us well to face new life challenges. Art has the power of healing as it enriches our life experience.
