My artwork is a vehicle for sharing the inspiration I find in nature’s fleeting moments of beauty. Many times I find this while taking a photo drive somewhere to capture that splash of light or the shapes in the shadows or any scene where nature is at it’s best. ‘Waterscapes’ are what I paint most often because water, in all it’s forms, excites and challenges me. I enjoy creating strong, dynamic compositions with the use of bold color in my paintings.

I may use one to three photo references to gather the information I need to complete a painting. Some photos would be used for the composition and others for close-ups of sections I may need for a more detailed area. I paint in oils primarily now and work in layers in my studio. I enjoy painting on smooth surfaces and continue to experiment on coated aluminum besides using linen.

From a young age, I enjoyed all forms of art and began taking oil painting lessons as a teen. I continued to paint larger works into high school. In college my favorite mediums were drawing, photography and printmaking. After completing a BA at Southern Connecticut State University, I became a graphic artist and remained in that field for over 30 years. My heart always belonged to my fine art though. I continued to paint and enter shows in between work and family, winning awards along the way.

My work is in many private collections across the country. I have exhibited throughout Connecti- cut and on Long Island. I am a member of the New Haven Paint and Clay Club, the Women Artists Collective, the Madison, New Britain Museum of American Art guilds and an Associate Member of the Lyme Art Association. I was an active juried artist member of Maple and Main Gallery of FIne Art in Chester, Connecticut for over 5 years. Most recently, I served on the Council of the Connecticut Women Artists organization and was elected President in 2017. I stepped down from this position in October, but will remain on the Council to mentor and advise.
