My name is KJ Murphey and I have been a part time comic creator/free lance artist for the last 24 years. My work is primarily fantasy and science fiction genre but I also dabble in horror illustrations. I am the co creator and artist of the Road To Valhalla series.
I’ve been always fascinated with alien worlds, magic, monsters, and beautiful women since I was a kid. My direct influences can be traced back to the STAR WARS universe, LORD OF THE RINGS, JIM HENSON, and anything STEPHEN KING. I have a love of FLASH GORDON and BUCK ROGERS amongst others. I try to capture these inspirations in my own art work. My artwork at times can be very playful and cartoony when needed but it also be very haunting and dark. My line movement is something that I have spent years honing to get the excitement and movement I need to convey a sense of life. Some of my work is very loose and gestural and it has an implied sense of form. More recently Ive come to recognize the work as more pictorial. These sketches were done either at my studio or at my day job as my own form of therapy.
